Privacy Policy & Cookie Disclosure

Last updated: October 2026

What stays in your browser, what outside services receive, and how optional features are handled.

BorderCents is an independent relocation-finance publication. Publisher identity and postal details are pending in the legal notice. This notice describes the current site; it does not certify that all business or legal setup is complete.

1. Browser storage & local calculations

Calculator arithmetic runs in your browser. There is no visitor account database holding your financial plan. Some tools save selected answers, city comparisons, checkmarks or theme preferences locally; other figures remain only in the open page.

The salary comparison uses legacy keys such as expatledger-arbitrage-v1 and expatledger-arbitrage-summary-v1; country checklists use expatledger-dossier-v1 keys. These compatibility names do not identify a separate data recipient. No identity documents are uploaded by these tools.

2. Information handled by the site

Serving a page or asset involves technical request information, potentially including an IP address, browser details, requested URL, referring information and time. Hosting and content-delivery providers may process or log this information under their own arrangements. We do not claim that every IP address is anonymized.

Contact and resource-request forms are currently unavailable and do not collect or submit an email address or message while disabled. Direct PDF downloads need no signup. If you email team@bordercents.com, the email services involved receive your address, message and any attachments you choose to send.

Our tools do not ask for bank account numbers, payment credentials, identity documents or tax identification numbers. Do not enter those details, medical records or confidential documents into general text fields.

3. Purposes of processing

Optional marketing is separate from requesting a resource. It is not a condition of reading guides or downloading the available PDFs.

5. Providers & disclosures

Site hosting and content delivery process requests needed to serve this publication. Externally loaded fonts, photos, flags, maps and libraries also involve their providers. We do not sell or rent reader lists. The present site does not send calculator figures to an advertising, analytics or AI endpoint.

We cannot describe all providers as contracted processors: their roles and terms differ. Data-processing agreements, retention and transfer safeguards must be assessed for each service. Disclosures required by applicable law may also occur.

External resources: Google Fonts serves Inter through fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. Leaflet files may load from unpkg.com; country maps request OpenStreetMap tiles. Photos and flags may load from Unsplash and Wikimedia Commons. These requests may disclose IP addresses and browser/request details, not your calculator's financial fields. The portable edition embeds local code and a font copy but can still request remote images. The header does not request live exchange rates.

See Google privacy, Unsplash privacy, Wikimedia privacy, and OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy. Visiting an external source opens a separate service with its own policies.

6. Cookies, analytics & advertising

Browser storage remembers selected tool state and your theme. This build includes no site analytics tracker, session replay or advertising pixel. External infrastructure can still process technical requests as described above.

Google AdSense and advertising cookies — not active yet

The labeled .ad-slot-container spaces are reserved layout placeholders. No AdSense publisher ID, ad request or advertising cookie is activated by the site's current ad configuration.

If advertising is introduced, Google and its partners may process identifiers for serving, measuring and, where permitted, personalizing ads. Before activation, the publisher must configure the appropriate Google-certified consent platform and consent-dependent loading for EEA, UK and Swiss visitors. The banner must offer the choices required by applicable law and the provider's current requirements; an empty script hook is not a certified CMP.

Older templates refer to DoubleClick “DART” cookies. This is not a claim that such a cookie is set here. See Google's AdSense cookie information.

7. AI assistance & calculator inputs

AI tools assist editorial work and software development, as described in our AI notice. The site's calculators and city scoring do not call an external AI model with your entries. The current application does not send those entries for AI training. Sharing a screenshot, downloaded plan or message yourself is separate from the site's local calculation behavior.

8. International processing

Hosting, content delivery and external assets can involve processing in multiple countries. The safeguards required depend on the provider, destination and applicable law. We do not claim that a particular adequacy arrangement or Standard Contractual Clause has been executed without a confirmed agreement. Appropriate provider and transfer arrangements must be checked before introducing new data collection.

9. Retention

Persistent browser records follow the deletion controls in section 1. Session handoffs become ineligible for reuse after one hour; that is not guaranteed physical deletion. Shared or restored browser sessions can retain information.

Hosting and external providers apply their own retention arrangements to technical requests. Correspondence is used to handle your request and any applicable legal obligations. A fixed mailbox retention period has not been published; please contact us about deletion. A documented retention and deletion policy is required before automated email or subscriptions are activated.

10. Security & your device

The hosted site uses HTTPS, and financial calculations run locally. These choices reduce unnecessary transmission; they do not make browser storage encrypted or inaccessible to other users, extensions or compromised software on your device. Avoid storing sensitive plans in a shared browser. No security measure guarantees absolute protection.

11. Children

BorderCents is intended for adults planning an international move. It is not designed to solicit children's personal information and has no visitor-account or document-upload feature. If future correspondence contains a child's information, it must be handled under the applicable deletion and legal-retention requirements. No age-verification system is claimed.

12. Privacy rights

Where applicable, GDPR or UK GDPR can provide rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to withdraw consent and complain to a competent supervisory authority. These rights have conditions and exceptions. Browser-local plans are not an account record we can retrieve for you; use your device controls to remove them.

See the European Commission's explanation of individual rights. Email team@bordercents.com about information you have sent us. The publisher's legal identification remains pending in the legal notice.

13. Browser privacy signals

This build has no dedicated Do-Not-Track or Global Privacy Control handler, and no active sale/sharing advertising workflow to switch off. That is a description of the current code, not an exemption from obligations to honor applicable privacy signals if processing changes.

14. US state privacy rights

Where a US state privacy law applies to the publisher and the processing concerned, residents may have rights to know, access, correct or delete information, and to opt out of qualifying sale, sharing or targeted advertising without unlawful discrimination. Applicability and exceptions vary; California residence alone does not establish that a particular business is subject to CCPA/CPRA.

No reader-list sale or cross-context advertising is configured in the present site. See the California Attorney General's CCPA information.

15. Changes to this notice

We will update this notice when relevant processing changes, including activation of email, subscriptions, analytics or advertising. The date above identifies the policy revision, not a legal certification.

16. Contact & deletion requests

For editorial feedback, corrections or privacy questions, email team@bordercents.com. You can also read our contact & editorial feedback page. Do not send confidential records.

Clear site data in your browser to remove locally saved plans. For information you have emailed to us, send a request to the address above. We do not redirect privacy requests to another company's portal. The publisher's legal details remain pending.

When optional email services are connected

The prepared same-origin integration uses Resend for delivery and Cloudflare Turnstile for submission security. Disabled forms do not activate these submission services. If enabled, a resource request will send your email, selected destination/resource tag, optional subscription choice and request identifier; a contact request will also send your name, topic and message. Financial tool entries are not part of either payload.

Requested PDFs and optional marketing are separate. The prepared subscription flow requires an unchecked opt-in and an email confirmation; its unsubscribe link suppresses optional updates. There is no active automated course or campaign. The site shows acceptance only after the delivery provider accepts a request; acceptance is not proof of inbox delivery. Failed entries remain in the open form for retry, not in browser email-request storage.

Before enabling these services, the publisher must establish the active inbox, sender, postal identity, retention, processor terms and applicable transfer arrangements. See Resend privacy and Cloudflare privacy.
