Editorial policy
Useful first. Verifiable second. Current where it matters.
Our work separates durable planning principles from rules that can change, and tells the reader which is which.
Source hierarchy
For laws, regulations, tax administration, central-bank rules and public services, we prefer the responsible government, regulator or statutory text. For international frameworks we use primary institutions such as the OECD, European Commission or recognized standards bodies. Commercial pages may help explain a process but do not establish the rule.
How guides are written
Every guide starts with the decision a reader is trying to make. We distinguish regulatory ceilings from provider policy, eligibility from likely approval and education from personal advice. Numerical examples are labelled as illustrations. Calculators show their main assumptions and are not predictions.
Review dates
Rule-sensitive guides carry a reviewed date and link to primary sources. Evergreen frameworks are reviewed for clarity and broken links, while country rules receive a fresh rules check. A review date means the cited source was checked; it does not guarantee that an agency, bank or insurer has not changed a policy since.
Corrections
A factual correction should identify the page, exact claim, a dated primary source and why it changes the decision. We recheck material errors and record relevant changes. See the contact page for the chosen editorial address and current delivery availability.
Advertising and independence
Advertising does not determine which countries, products or conclusions appear in editorial material. Paid placements must be visually distinct from navigation and editorial recommendations. BorderCents currently does not publish paid product rankings or affiliate recommendations.
AI and editorial responsibility
Digital tools may assist research, drafting and consistency checks. They do not replace source verification or editorial responsibility. Claims should be traceable to the cited material, and the published wording—not a tool—is what we stand behind.
AI assistance & publisher review
The publisher personally reads and reviews the articles before publication. AI assists drafting, editing, organization and software development. Publisher review and technical tests are distinct from an independent professional audit. We do not imply that a licensed adviser has verified every guide or that all sample costs and scores are statutory facts.
