- UAE final pay, gratuity, account access and residence cancellation run on different timelines.
- Thai tax residence uses an annual day count, while income source and remittance remain separate questions.
- Transfers need an evidence trail that connects the money to an earning year and source.
1. Reconcile the UAE exit before access changes
Secure the employment contract, final settlement, payslips, end-of-service calculation, bank statements, loan closure evidence and residence documents. Check how long health cover and account access continue rather than assuming they end together.
2. Start the Thai calendar on day one
Track days in Thailand and every physical work location. Immigration permission, tax residence and whether work is permitted are separate files. A visa label does not classify income for tax.
3. Label income before moving money
For each receipt, record payer, service period or earning date, currency, first account and tax already paid. For transfers to Thailand, retain both sending and receiving statements plus the conversion record. Mixed balances make later explanations harder.
4. Design the local banking system
Keep earning, reserve, transfer and spending rails distinct where practical. Test rent, card, transfer and cash needs with the exact city. An island or seasonal base needs a second payment method and disruption reserve.
